Thank You!

Thank you to the wonderful volunteers at Saturday's Working Bee

Despite the inclement weather, approximately 20 dedicated people turned up to ensure that our grounds are ready for next weekend.

A special thanks to the guys who welded our broken goals.

Our fields do not take care of themselves and without the support of such folk, we would be playing on overgrown paddocks without lines or goals.

Again - Thank you!

Up until 1998, Hervey Bay Soccer played as part of the Maryborough Soccer Federation under the Queensland Soccer Federation - QSF. Members of our local soccer league tried for 12 months to get permission to start our ‘own’ Federation in Hervey Bay but were refused.

We approached the QCSA (Queensland Christian Soccer Association), and their State coordinator came up from Brisbane to meet with our proposed Federation.  The decision was then made to join the QCSA.   We all sat around as a group that night and made up names for the Clubs that we would form to make up our Federation – they were Bayside Strikers Soccer Club, Fraser Flames Football Club, Kawungan Whales Soccer Club and Sandy Straits Soccer Club.

In just our 2nd year of existence, we attended the QCSA State Titles on the Sunshine Coast with our kids representing Hervey Bay in their own right for the first time ever.  The following year we hosted the State Titles and they proved an outstanding success with Hervey Bay teams taking out two of the age divisions and being runner-up in another and Hervey Bay being named “Overall Champion Zone”.

The next logical step in the development of Soccer in Hervey Bay was to rejoin the QSF to provide a clear pathway for our players to aspire too.  This would only be done if QSF allowed us to remain our own Federation within the Wide Bay Zone. This move provided better developmental programmes for our junior ranks. The first few years of the Hervey Bay City Soccer Federation's existence saw increasing numbers. The need arose for a new club to be formed; namely United Soccer Club - with a new one, Rangers Football Club, being proposed for admission in the 2006 season. In the past couple of seasons we have had some excellent results at Wide Bay Zone Championships and many of our players have gone on to represent their Zone at State Cup Carnivals, along with Queensland Country, and have played overseas.

We now have over 1300 registered members and this is increasing annually. With the current development programmes in place (and others happening on a regular basis), Football Hervey Bay is well placed to continue to be the largest sporting group in Hervey Bay.   Our focus will always be "to foster, develop, promote" the game of soccer in our wonderful city and to provide our players with the best possible opportunities available to them through this the World Game.

2007 commenced with a name change - FOOTBALL HERVEY BAY INC. and the name of the  Federation changed to COMPETITION MANAGEMENT CENTRE [CMC].

2008 sees a new name CA (Competition Administrator) and a changing of the guard at executive level. FHB is also growing closer to our nearest neighbours in Maryborough, with the introduction of a weekly inter-federation competition at all competitive age-groups (under 11 upwards).

I have yet to be advised as to the future of our Junior girls - hoprfully they will be fully integrated into this new structure.
