The decision to deduct points from various teams in Round 1 due to alleged registration breaches was discussed at last night’s CA meeting.
The Kawungan president, Phil Rimmer, made a request to attend this meeting. This request was granted. Phil put forth a logical and coherent argument that the points should be restored to all teams whose paperwork was submitted to the CA registrar by 5pm the day before the first game in accordance with FHB by-law 3.10.
The CA thanks Phil for taking the time to present his case in person.
In response, the CA resolved the following:
- It is recognised that our registrar, with the support of the CA, was attempting to create an environment where the opening weekend fixtures could be assessed efficiently, and above all, fairly, to ensure compliance by all clubs with our legal liability regarding all participating players being properly registered and more importantly, insured.
- It is recognised that the proper application and compliance with by-law 2.1 was impossible to ascertain.
- All teams that played a player registered with the CA registrar by 5pm the day before the first game in accordance with FHB by-law 3.10 will have the actual score reinstated on the record of games, and on the website.
Please note that the proposed new by-laws feature a more realistic time-frame for proper compliance regarding the first competitive game of the season in 2010.
