Planning meetings for 2008.
Please check diary dates on side panel for times and dates of meetings.
All clubs are strongly encouraged to send delegates to these meetings so that your members can have their say in how FHB should be run in 2009.
Our Junior delegate, Derek Palmer, will run the first meeting next Monday to discuss issues relating to junior football; our senior delegate Joe Watt will hold another meeting two weeks afterwards to discuss the future of senior men's football.
Wide Bay Skills Test
There will be a skills test held at Dolphin Park on Wednesday September 3rd at 6pm. This testing will help identify potential Wide Bay players for next season. The skills tests are to be open for anyone to try out.

Football Queensland 2008 players survey. (Prizes to be won!)
For a period of 2 weeks until Friday August 22nd Football Queensland will be conducting the 2008 Players Survey. The survey will be delivered electronically via the Football Queensland website.
This survey is open to all players and parents of players who participated in football here in Hervey Bay (and in Maryborough) during 2008.
For your chance to win $700 in Coles Myer gift certificates, simply click here and take 5 minutes to complete the 2008 Football Queensland Player's Survey.
Double Points games still to be played.
Full list of games - which games and when - can be found here.
Div 1&2 game time changes
Don't forget there are still three senior games that have had to be rearranged due to a shortage of referees. A summary of these changes can be found here.
Senior Referee Shortage
On a related topic, Football Hervey Bay is still extremely short of senior referees. It is easy to grumble about the changes in the draws and the comparitive youth of the kids running the lines in senior games but this situation is easily fixed.
There are currently 112 senior men (over 18) playing football in Hervey Bay. Out of all these players there is one (1) senior referee. There are 88 senior women playing football. There are no senior female referees out of the 88 players.
We need more people to step forward and put their hand up.

Six a side will kick off this year on Friday October 10th. There will be 17 rounds from October 10 through to Saturday February 28, 2009.
Sign-up, or team nomination, will happen next weekend - Check diary dates on the side panel for times. This means that teams must be nominated and paid for at these times.
Please note that as of Monday, team nomination forms will be made available at Sportsfront on Main St. Neil Worth has kindly acceded to my request and will be accepting team nomination forms payments at his shop.
Please note that EFTPOS is not an option - all nomination fees must be paid in cash.
Lots of people have responded to the polls on the side panel and so far the overwhelming majority are of the opinion that the junior competition be played on a Thursday instead of a Saturday. First game would kick off at about 4:00pm and the last game at about 7:00pm.
Given this response, the next thing to ask is for written submissions - for or against the concept. I have no opinion but want to please the majority.

This year Football Federation Australia, through the state associations, local zones, competition administrators and clubs, commenced the national roll-out of small-sided games. Over the next few seasons, small-sided games will be progressively rolled out and Football Federation Australia is seeking feedback from parents of children who played small-sided games during 2008. To assist with this research FFA are asking that all interested parties to complete an online survey regarding SSG.
Have your say!
We encourage everyone, coaches, parents, club officials, to participate in this survey as it will provide FFA with valuable and relevant feedback and information about the implementation of small-sided games in future years.
